We were trying to figure out how to best describe our wedding and there are just too many wonderful words to describe it so we are just going to tell you it was absolutely… “MAGICAL”. The Hobbit House, gardens and waterfalls are breathtaking and so inviting.
On Capt. Howie’s recommendation, we chose the sunrise wedding. This meant arriving at 4:00 am for the hair and makeup services. We thought we were crazy, but crazy we were not. Capt. Howie was right about how beautiful it would be to have photographs taken at sunrise. Everything he suggested to us proved well worth it. From the first conversation to the wedding itself, nothing could have been more perfect.
We started from our hotel in Honolulu and due to some road construction and some misguided help at the hotel, we got lost and so a stressed bride-to-be I became. However, that all faded away as soon as we pulled in the gate at Pukalani Falls Gardens. We were greeted by Capt. Howie, the warmest and most thoughtful person in the world. Capt. Howie gave welcoming hugs and kisses and you could just feel the overwhelming moment of calmness. From there on out our wedding was everything anyone could hope for and one of the easiest things we have ever done.
Our makeup artist Wade is absolutely astounding at what he does. And at 4:30 am, he does a great job conversing with you and making your hair and make-up flawless.
Our photographer Fernando was so much fun to work with. He knew just how to make two people who do not like to have their pictures taken, feel like a million dollars. We can’t wait to get our photos as we know they will be MAGICAL.
Capt. Howie’s wife Deva was so hospitable and as others have said, you feel like they are old friends of yours.
Our wedding took place on the beach at Angels Bay and was everything, plus more, than we had hoped for. We knew how much we loved each other but Capt. Howie helped us realize how much more we were truly in love. His words were priceless and we keep repeating many of his words to each other. Our favorite message from him was when we were exchanging rings, which were a bit tight. It took both of us working together to put each other’s rings on. Then Capt. Howie said, “Now try to see the symbolism. Just as it took a team effort get your rings on, similarly, it will definitely take a team effort to make your marriage work.” It was incredible how well his words of wisdom fit us exactly.
Anyone getting married in Hawaii would be missing the best experience ever if they didn’t choose Capt Howie and Above Heavens Gate for their, wedding Hawaii style!
Thanks to everyone at Above Heavens Gate for the fabulous memories we will have for a lifetime and beyond.
