Dear Captain Howie, Chrissy, Jodi, Fernando, and Wade,

We would like to thank ALL of you for making our Hawaii wedding day truly magical.  It was like a dream come true with so many wonderful memories.  “Above Heaven’s Gate” was the perfect place to get married.  The surroundings and atmosphere in the Pukalani Falls Garden were amazing and it set the mood.  It was better than we could have ever imagined!

Captain Howie and Deva, your hospitality made us feel very welcomed and relaxed.  It was nice to get to know one another.  The wedding service Captain Howie preformed was just perfect.  His words were inspiring and meaningful to the both of us as we will continue to remember the importance of love in our marriage.

Chrissy and Jodi, you both were so helpful about everything.  Not only did you return phone calls and emails promptly, you also provided us with useful information and suggestions.  We could tell that you both were genuine and sincere about making a couple’s stay in Hawaii most enjoyable.

Wade, your makeup and hairstyling skills are wonderful. You were very friendly and made me feel comfortable. You listened to what I liked and didn’t like and made sure the outcome was perfect for me.  You made me feel so BEAUTIFUL!

Fernando, your knowledge and skill with photography is amazing.  You made our session really fun. You captured our day in a creative and unique way.   We are very excited to get our pictures back to see the incredible work you did on our wedding day.

We were extremely pleased with the amount of effort that Captain Howie and his team put into making sure everything would run smoothly on our special Hawaiian wedding day.  You all made us feel important as individuals, not just another couple getting married.  That meant a lot to us.  It was such a beautiful experience.  We highly recommend Captain Howie and his staff at Above Heaven’s Gate for anyone that is looking into Hawaii marriages.  The website is so true to everything on there…and even better in person!!!

Many  thanks,
Peter and Terrie Hynes

Aloha from Maria and Chris,

I was a little nervous about the concept of booking weddings in Hawaii – so far away. However, once I made my first call and scheduled everything, you all made me feel at ease.  You have a great website, it had everything broken down and it gave us many different options.  I liked how we could mix and match your Hawaii wedding packages, and ultimately design our own.  Plus, once we got there, you gave us even more options to make our package even better.

We are glad we chose to go with Captain Howie and Above Heaven’s Gate.  We enjoyed ourselves, and we didn’t have to rush around and get things done ourselves.  Everything was already there for us; the flowers, our photographer, amazing locations, hair and makeup, and best of all… Captain Howie.  It is very nice to know that all one has to do is show up for something and enjoy yourself.  We highly recommend weddings in Hawaii with Above Heaven’s Gate, instead of having a big stressful wedding with no adventure. Everything turned out great, and we will always remember our never-to-be-forgotten wedding in Hawaii with Captain Howie.

Dear Hawaiiweddings.com

Hello and thank you to everyone involved in making our wedding in Hawaii so blissfully memorable. We could not have imagined anything better. It was simple and so beautiful at the same time. We could not believe how we were practically the only people on the beach at Angels Bay when we were married! As well, thank you for the pictures. It was so exciting to see them so soon, especially when we started really missing Hawaii. We are hoping to return for a Hawaiian vow renewal on our 10 year anniversary.. but if we are lucky, we will be back even sooner!

Aloha,

Dear Capt. Howie and his team,

After 25 years, my husband and I decided to renew our vows. We are so pleased to have found Captain Howie and his wonderful team to plan our all inclusive vow renewal in Hawaii! We wanted to get away from the busy atmosphere of Honolulu and, not having had a formal wedding, we were looking for something beautiful and somewhat intimate…even though 50 of our closest friends and family were joining us…

The time spent with Captain Howie and his team was great. Pukalani Falls and Angels Bay were not only beautiful, but most of all relaxing and serene. The gardens and Hobbit House were truly amazing…

The ceremony on the beach was everything my husband and I had hoped for, and more!  Captain Howie had a great insight for what my husband and I were trying to convey not only to each other, but to our children, family and friends.  It is a day my family will never forget and you have given us and our guests beautiful memories we will cherish for always.

Our most sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Captain Howie, his gracious wife, our make-up artist and new friend Wade, Fernando the photographer and of course Jodi and Chrissy who were so helpful on the phone.

Captain Howie and his gang took care of everything and truly let us enjoy a perfect day!

PS: We just received our pictures and CD’s. They are perfect and made us relive that special time all over again. I am so glad we decided to purchase the photo package, it is well worth it!  Only recommendation: splurge and get the bigger package, I wish we had!

Aloha Capt. Howie and Above Heaven’s Gate!

We would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the most amazing Hawaiian wedding day, and each day that led up to it. Planning a wedding can be stressful and you all made it so easy and effortless. I have a son and when I asked Captain Howie to incorporate him into the ceremony. He made me feel so confident that he would be just as much a part of the ceremony as my husband and I, which is what I wanted. And he really followed through! My son had the best experience and that was so important to me. Captain Howie was so sweet to him. Thank you so much for making us feel so comfortable. Your hugs and words of encouragement mean the world to myself and my family. We will NEVER forget you all! You made our day exactly as we hoped it would be.

We highly recommend your services to anyone wanting an all inclusive wedding in Hawaii.

Captain Howie, Jodi, Chrissy and Fernando, Aloha!

We would like to start this letter with a very, very big heartfelt THANK YOU!! Your team is composed of wonderful, caring, encouraging and amazing people. You all really did make our wedding day absolutely perfect. We cannot imagine having a Hawaii wedding any other way and when we think back on that day, we are filled with awesome and incredibly happy thoughts.

To Captain Howie,

You truly are a wonderful man and you have been such a blessing in our lives. We only really knew you for a short time but we feel like you are an old friend who has a genuine interest in being a part of love and the fruits born of that divine union. The pre-wedding talk you shared with us calmed both of our nerves and helped us feel a real sense of peace about the entire occasion. Your words at the ceremony were heartfelt and unforgettable and we cannot thank you enough for the care and love you poured into our lives that day. The prayer you shared with us will forever be in our hearts and the mark you made on our lives is timeless. We are so blessed to have had you as the overseer of our union, and as a spiritual advisor on the wonderful life that lies ahead for us. Our families adored you and we cannot help but tell every person who asks about our “officiator” all about you. You are an amazing man. May blessings fall upon you and the couples you unite.

To Jodi,

Wow, you are such an incredibly, enchanting person. Your beauty radiates from the inside out and your kindness and generosity touches everyone you meet. Your patience and true generosity go unmatched and we cannot begin to express how grateful we are to have had a chance to meet and know you (even if for a day). You helped us every step of the way on the morning of the wedding and we am so, so thankful you were placed our lives at that moment.

To Chrissy,

Your up-beat, cheerful attitude is so wonderful and it was a joy to talk to you on the phone the many, many times we called. You planned everything to perfection and I knew I had nothing to worry about during the months leading up to our wedding in Hawaii because you were taking care of everything. The wedding was phenomenal – from my flowers, to the pictures and location, to the mailing of my dress (!!)  Everything was done exactly as we wanted it – and it was all of your orchestration that made it happen! Thank you for your kind words and optimistic outlook. our Hawaii wedding planner would not have gone nearly as smoothly without you!

To Fernando,

You, my friend, rocked our wedding world! The pictures were breathtaking; the backgrounds were stunning, the weather was gorgeous and you captured the feeling of the entire day in the wonderful photographs you took. I have received so many compliments on our wedding pictures and we owe it ALL to you. You captured our happiness, the excitement we felt leading up to the wedding and the joys of being married right after the ceremony. We will cherish the pictures you took for years and years to come.

A little note to anyone visiting the site,

If you are thinking at all about being married in Hawaii, there is absolutely no way you can go wrong if you choose Captain Howie and his team. I cannot stress to you enough how amazing and wonderful he and the wonderful people that work alongside him are. Our wedding day was absolute perfection and we can only attribute that to the Hawaii wedding planners behind it all. I will say that because of personal family issues and transportation problems, disappointments and sadness could have become a part of our wedding day. However, they were not, strictly because of how Captain Howie and his incredible wife helped us handle those situations. They offered us their home, their food and their love and when the stress of the day could have been at its highest, my husband and I were blissfully sipping juice and watching waves crash on the shoreline. They were there to support us at every turn and they set aside their personal plans to accommodate our needs. We are forever grateful for the kindness, love and generosity they have shown us and we highly encourage anyone even thinking about a wedding in Hawaii with them, to book it asap. Chrissy, the assistant/planner/coordinator extraordinaire is a wonderful, kind person who helped us plan every little detail of the wedding, removing any stress or anxiety we felt about having a destination wedding. Jodi, the kindest, sweetest woman you will meet, was there for our every request and showed us such a great amount of love on our happiest day. She is so lovely and generous and just meeting her was a joy. Captain Howie is a man who will truly bless your lives. His words of wisdom and encouragement are personal and heartfelt and we cannot even begin to imagine having our wedding without him. He sincerely cares about each couple he meets. Your wedding day will be filled with happiness and love if you choose to let him be a part of it. Fernando is an excellent photographer who is blessed with the ability to put couples at ease and capture the true feelings of the day with his pictures. The photographs we came home with were stunning and we are so happy to have worked with him.

We cannot thank Captain Howie’s team enough for all of their hard work and wonderful attitudes. They made planning a wedding in Hawaii a breeze. Our wedding is something we are so thankful to have had and it could not have been possible without Captain Howie and his awesome staff.

Thank you, thank you, and thank you Captain Howie and his crew, a hundred times and more!!!
Aloha!

Sandi and Keven Peck’s Wedding Testimonial:

This letter is written as an open recommendation to anyone who is looking to have their wedding in Paradise.  When my husband and I began looking for wedding venues in Hawaii, we were overwhelmed with the volume of cookie cutter Hawaiian wedding  planners offering the same basic services at exorbitant cost.  And then…. Like the sun shining through the clouds, we found Above Heaven’s Gate.

What first drew us to Above Heaven’s Gate was the notion of getting married on the beach, with the option of also taking pictures at the Hawaiian Hobbit House and Pukalani Falls Garden.  I sent an email to inquire about the date we were planning and soon received a call from Jodi who answered all of my questions and offered several perfect suggestions. She walked me through all of the options and services available for our wedding day.  At the end of our first 20-minute conversation, I knew that this was the place for us.

As the months passed leading up to our wedding, we made several changes to our plans, and each change was easily accommodated. We loved that the entire staff was flexible and thoughtful and offered so many ideas to get us exactly what we wanted.

In the weeks before the wedding, Chrissy and I emailed regularly, finalizing plans and establishing the schedule for the day.  The day before the wedding, Deva called to check in, and to be sure we had directions.

From the moment we knocked on the blue gates at the Hobbit House / Pukalani Falls, we were treated like family, with so much love and friendship.  Each person we encountered made our day so special.

We spent some wonderful time with Captain Howie.  He engaged us in a conversation about our lives and our journey together.  He used the information gained to create the most personal and beautiful wedding ceremony for us.  He is a unique person who may not be for everybody.  However, for us he was perfect – spiritual, insightful, caring, and maybe a little left of center – “just what we were looking for”.  We had guests with us from 20 to 76, religious and not so much.  Each of them found meaning in Captain Howie’s thought provoking and heartfelt words.

Deva, Captain Howie’s wife, was everywhere throughout the day.  She welcomed us to her home and made sure we had what we needed to feel comfortable.  I had chosen Plumeria for my bouquet and hair and for the guest leis for our parents.  She told me the day before the wedding that they were hard to come by in the winter and that I might have to have a back up plan in case they were not available.  The morning of the wedding, she walked through the neighborhood collecting Plumeria from her neighbor’s trees so that I could have enough for my hair.  As it turned out, the florist did deliver enough for my bouquet, hair and guest leis, but the idea that she would go to that much trouble because she knew how much I loved Plumeria, was beyond belief.  I cannot tell you how very much it meant to me.

Then, I was off to the hair and make-up Cabana with Wade.  I can’t find the words to describe the transformation Wade accomplished.  All I can say is that I have never felt more beautiful and special.  My hair and make-up were extraordinary and the conversations we had were like chatting with an old friend.  He is a magician, and I am eternally grateful.  Kevin’s first word at seeing me was “WOW”. Enough said!

Fernando awaited us in the Pukalani Falls Gardens to begin our photo shoot.  We had originally been hesitant about doing our photos before the wedding but we are so very glad we did.  They turned out amazing and we love every single picture.  Fernando got every shot he wanted without ever making us feel stressed or uncomfortable.  He was easy going and a perfectionist, and I’m not sure how he got us to pose for so many pictures and have fun doing it.  We did our photos in the gardens, and on the beach, with sunset photos at the end of our beautiful day.  I encourage every one to get photos in multiple locations – each place is a unique glimpse of paradise.

Chrissy shot our video, in collaboration with Fernando.  It is a unique and wonderful memory of our special wedding in Hawaii.  In all of the excitement, we had forgotten all of the words we spoke to each other during the ceremony, and our Hawaiian wedding video is now a cherished gift.  It even came complete with a blooper from the ceremony at the end – loved that!  Thanks Chrissy, for such a wonderful job, and for all of your help and kindness.

The Hobbit House / Pukalani Falls Garden is the most amazing slice of heaven we have ever seen.  Each corner of the property is filled with magic, for the eyes, for the ears, and for the soul.  The flowers and plants and the myriad of colors, in combination with the koi fish and the waterfalls, is spectacular.  The sound of those waterfalls, with the birds in the background, provided a soothing harmony to our time there.  Captain Howie and Deva made us feel at home, and we were surprised, but grateful, that they allowed us to explore, for even a few moments, this place that they are so blessed to call home.

Angels Bay is a beautiful stretch of white sand beach and we can’t imagine a more perfect background for our Hawaiian wedding.  The sound of the surf created such beautiful music for our day.  We ordered the Indonesian Arch, with tiki torches and chairs with white covers.  The arch and chairs had hot pink sashes and the arch also had flowers.  The hot pink was such a wonderful contrast to the golden sand the turquoise water and it looks great in the photos.  We drove to a second beach for our sunset photos, and were blessed with an amazing sunset which Fernando captured perfectly.

The photos, CD, Video Photo Book and the Video arrived in only aa little over two weeks.  Everything is top of the line, professional, and AWESOME.  We adore the photos.

Our whole experience with Captain Howie Above Heaven’s Gate was phenomenal and we would recommend it to anyone who wants a personal and meaningful wedding experience in Paradise.  They are flexible, accommodating and attend to every detail.  They are our family now and we look forward to visiting our OHANA (Hawaiian family) again on our first anniversary.

March 12th, 2011

Dear Captain Howie and the Gang,

We would like to thank you guys for a perfect day with everything planned out so well. With all the locations and wedding packages in Hawaii available, it was becoming very hard to choose where to go. Since it was getting so close to the final date, we thought we should try calling one of the Hawaii wedding planners to get more information. As soon as I talked to Chrissy, I knew I wanted to get married by you guys at Pukalani Falls. Chrissy and Jodi were very friendly and helpful and my calls and emails were answered very efficiently.

Puja was delighted with her makeup and flowers.  We were both amazed with the breathtaking views of both the Pukalani Falls Gardens and Angels Bay. Captain Howie’s amazing Hobbit House was certainly one of a kind. His variety of skills were impressive – from speaking fluent Sanskrit to blowing the conch shell. He made our day much more special with doing some of the ceremony in Sanskrit which is so much a part of our Hindu tradition. Captain Howie’s words of wisdom will stay very close to our hearts throughout our life journey. We were extremely happy with the vegetarian restaurant Deva found for us.

Everyone was so delighted to see the books gifted to us from Captain Howie. We show the signed copy of the book to everyone that visits us.

Our wedding pictures recently arrived and we couldn’t have imagined them any better. The colors, views, and poses are absolutely stunning. I cannot wait to enlarge many of them. I would like to thank the makeup artist, who spent a lot of time fixing Puja’s hair to just the way she liked it, and the photographer, who took time for each photo and had a special lens for every need.

We will never forget the time we had that morning and would definitely come by to visit Captain Howie next time we are in Hawaii. We highly recommend Captain Howie and his gang to anyone wanting the perfect all inclusive wedding package in Hawaii!

Thanks
